Longevity Secrets from the Life of Bill Pritchett
Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord, keeping your passion toward him boiling hot! Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let him fill you with excitement as you serve him. Romans 12:11 TPT
Dad and his brother, Robert, started working the fields when they were 6 and 8, respectively. They would ride bareback as the horses pulled a ‘go devil’ (which is a scary looking plow with round blades). A snake spooked the horse that Dad was riding and the horses bolted. Robert managed to jump off to safety. Dad tells his part of the story like this:
“I remember looking between the gait of the horses as they ran. Every few seconds there was an open place and I chose the moment and jumped. As I landed, one of the blades nicked my foot. Meanwhile, Robert had gone running to the house to tell Mother what had happened. She came to the door yelling “Bill, Bill.”
I yelled back, “I’m okay Mom. I just cut off my foot.”
One of the greatest benefits from what some would consider a difficult childhood was that he considered himself completely blessed with his early days. He looked for the humor and loved to tell the stories from a positive filter. This perspective, in turn, allowed him to enjoy life to the fullest.
His personal sense of value was not tied to a set monetary amount. He loved to minister to people and was looking for ways to meet them and love on them. These were priceless experiences and had an eternal value. He always had a sense that God would provide for their financial needs and it was not tied to his level of activity. He was excited to fulfill his calling to serve people and in that way serve the Lord.
