Sing to God with hearts full and spilling over with thankfulness. Colossians 3:16 (Voice)
I am thankful for songs of praise that allow me to express my gratitude to the Eternal One who has done so much for me because singing to Him allows the thankfulness to spill over and bless others.
I started a gratitude series for November and made it halfway through the course. At that point, I was visiting my Dad and decided to stop and enjoy the time together rather than stress over completing the gratitude series.
My heart is indeed full today as I reflect on this Thanksgiving season that we just shared. We are getting ready to go into what we have allowed to be a stressful time. So much of that stress is self-imposed. Just as my decision to stop stressing about getting a blog out every day helped my gratitude quotient to grow, you can decide what you will do this holiday season. Who says it has to be perfect? Perfection is overrated. Instead, enjoy!
True worship overflows from a heart that is full and spilling over with gratitude. When someone runs into you (figuratively and literally) your thankfulness should spill out. So what happened last time you had a conflict or collision with someone? If you have more to work on in this area, go back and reflect on all that God has done for you over your lifetime.
Truly meditate on the close calls, the last minutes answers and big answers to your prayers.
Open your heart to expand the gratitude factor by letting everyone in your circle know specifically why you appreciate them. Honor their contributions to your life and progress as an individual. Write them notes. Call them. Send them a text message or put a post-it-note in their pocket or purse.
Be intentional about being thankful. You will find songs coming out of your mouth as you celebrate all that God has done.
