The wheels glittered like sun-kissed jewels. All four wheels looked exactly alike, each appearing to have another wheel inside it. Ezekiel 1:16 VOICE

Here goes…
As a preacher’s kid, I grew up looking carefully through hymnals as we usually sat next to Mom during the preaching. Our hymnal had a burgundy cover with pictures of Aimee Semple McPherson along with interesting pictures depicting the history of the International Church of the Foursquare Gospel. The one I remember most is of a Bible with a man, ox, eagle and lion on each of the four sides. (For more on this you can read Ezekiel 1.)
What do you think of when you think of balance?
Four legs bring balance.
Four facets of doctrine – Jesus – Savior, Healer, Baptizer with Holy Spirit and Coming King
I love that these truths formed the foundation of my faith because I believe they brought me balance. I remember my Dad’s great saying, “If you can’t see two extremes from where you’re standing – you are at one of them.”

In this passage, Ezekiel sees a wheel within a wheel. Each wheel is covered with eyes which speaks to me to keep moving forward yet looking around for new revelation. It is this continual moving forward that compels us to greater excellence – not for validation but for purpose.
Balance the inner workings of your mind to believe God is working even in the dark times
Balance insecurities by removing lies and replacing them with God’s truth.
Balance your uncertainties by affirming that your Heavenly Father has a purpose for creating you.
Balance your financial concerns with the testimony of provisions of the past.
Balance your work load with time with Him to prioritize it all.
Balance your fears with the love of God for you.
Balance your doubts with the faith that when you are weak you truly become strong.

Thank you for this post, Karen. We, too, go to a Four Square church and honestly? I had no idea.
Karen,
Woohoo! We are even closer than ever then. It is harder to know that these days as a lot of church use slogan names so we don’t sound so weird, LOL! Our name for the church we pastored for 11 years here in Arlington was Praise Unlimited. We never thought about the Acronym of PU! Now that is a double LOL!
I love my heritage. It is rich with blessings and, indeed, BALANCE.
Love you,
Karen
Balance right now means being able to stay on my feet, no matter how sick I am, and to keep moving forward.
Even if I don’t know where I’m going.
