O Eternal, our Lord,
Your majestic name is heard throughout the earth;
Your magnificent glory shines far above the skies. Psalm 8:1 (Voice)
Each new day starts with a magnificent sunrise. It is unique and special! There has never been one like it before and tomorrow’s will not be the same.
In my early morning walks in the park I am amazed at the joy and wonder I can feel to start a brand new day. No matter what heartache yesterday held, there is a fresh panorama of opportunity and hope. Today is unique and the opportunities for hope abound.
Hope Tools
Take in a sunrise (or sunset) every day
I recognize that not everyone is a “morning” person like me. So if you don’t get up in time to enjoy a sunrise then take time to stop and enjoy the sunset. There is something about pausing long enough to enjoy something bigger than yourself that allows you to regain perspective about what is going on in your life.
Release control
There are many things that you are trying to accomplish. You are working hard. All of that is good yet there comes the point when you need to take a deep breath and watch the sun rise or set. Trust that God is at work in your life and is accomplishing many things in His time and purpose. Continue to take steps in the right direction and let Him lead you.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for displaying Your creativity so lavishly here on this earth. Each transient cloud formation that forms part of the sunrise (or sunset) is like a stroke of your giant paintbrush to remind us that You have it all handled. I declare your majestic name so that it can be heard through the entire earth. I see Your glory in the skies and am grateful for the reminder of who I am in You. Remind me throughout today to release every concern to You with the confidence and hope that you are working Your plan for my good. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
