It’s a wonderful time to remember words of wisdom that we’ve heard throughout the years from our mothers. Here are a few of the ones sent to me via friends on Facebook:

  • “If you don’t know….ask. It’s better to appear to be ignorant by asking then to remain stupid by not asking.” Joan Black Van Zandt
  • “This too shall pass… ” Glenda Pettit
  • “That girl is perfect for you, so marry her… “and I did. Eliberto Rodriguez (our precious son-in-love who is a gift to our family!)
  • The best advice I got from my mother was not in words. It was her continuous, quiet, selfless, giving of herself to help others. I have been a LITTLE less selfish over the years as result of her example. She is 83 years old and STILL takes friends around and helps them when they are sick or in need of any kind. Alisa Flud Demetro
  • “Don’t talk too much…..it’s better to keep quiet and have people think you’re a fool, than to open your mouth and remove all doubt!” Glenna Green Smart Castle
  • “Pray without ceasing (I Thessalonians 5:17). Shelley Crabtree Linkerhof
  • “Men don’t change in one month.” Cindy Hendren Neusse
  • From my mom’s example, I learned to pray daily for my kids; have a good sense of humor; and keep the living room clean in case company comes over, you can close all the other doors! Becky McEachern Comstock
  • My mom always sees a cup half-full, a silver lining, a light at the end of the tunnel … She finds something positive and beauty in just about everything and everyone. Kathy Sturr
  • “Never say never.”  Jan Cheatheam
  • My mom always says to love and be kind to others and to cherish your family. She also has never had to preach at anyone for them to know she was a person of faith. She believes the loudest words of faith are your actions to others. Jet Jeannette Haggerty
  • Always wait until you know for sure that you are in the center of God’s will and always remember, “The blessing of the Lord makes you rich and He adds no sorrow (Proverbs 10:22).” Karen Sebastian
