Longevity Secrets from the Life of Bill Pritchett
So Hebron has belonged to Caleb ever since, because he followed the Lord, the God of Israel, wholeheartedly. Joshua 14:14 NIV
Dad’s life reminds me of the lives of Moses, Joshua and Caleb. Moses lived to be 120 years old and was able to climb up a mountain and see the promised land from that peak. Joshua was in his 80’s when he led the Israelites into the Promised Land. Caleb was 85 when he took the mountain he had been promised 40 years earlier. He was just as strong as he was when he was sent to be a spy in the promised land. He was ready to go to battle and take all that God has promised him. He knew that with the Lord’s help he could win the battles.
There was a resolve in my parents that is rare these days. The best expression for it was the chorus that says, “I have decided to follow Jesus – no turning back!” My parents dedicated their lives to serving the Lord and never wavered.
Another song that was popular in their lives was, “Oh for a thousand tongues to sing, my great Redeemers praise.” They just wished they had more than one life that they could surrender to the Lord. They knew who they were and what their lives were about. They poured energy and love into the lives of so many. They believed they were chosen by the Lord to serve Him in the exact way that they served Him. They truly loved the Lord with all their hearts.
