Authentically – Honor – Respect – Look for the best and – Be kind
I have spent the last two weeks with my Dad. He was put in the hospital with pneumonia which they discovered was the result of cancerous activity in his lungs. He has been sent home and we get to enjoy his delight with life. What? You might be asking “How can that be?”
Dad is a man who has always looked for the best of every situation. He has known the Lord for many years and served with unflinching commitment. His authentic faith is the best sermon you will ever hear as attested by everyone who came into contact with him in the hospital.
We crack up every day at something he says. Best of all, he is enjoying a side-holding laugh every day.
How does he do it?
He puts this verse into practice. He is looking for people to bless. He is looking for the best in the situation even when he is the brunt of the joke.
He is so excited to move to Heaven and yet, he is enjoying every relationship while still here.
We all have so much to learn. Learn it soon because you only have the present. Life is a gift. Enjoy and laugh in it all. Learn to laugh at yourself and you will continue to crack yourself up.
I honor these qualities in my Dad as he teaches us how to live until we take our first breath of Heaven.
Keep it simple. Search for what is good. No matter what happens – flip it. There is something funny behind the hardest situation. Focus on people and love them.

Beautiful! Praying for you and your family, Karen! This reminded me of my sweet MIL who passed away last summer… her diagnosis and passing was quick and sudden – but we all had so much peace because she, too, had so much joy!
Karrilee,
Thanks for this. I can feel the prayers.
Karen
