He satisfies the souls of thirsty ones and fills the hungry with all that is good! Psalm 107:9 The Passion Translation

We had a lady in our church when we moved to Texas that made the very best banana pudding ever! She would bring it to the church “pot bless” every month. One day I asked her for the recipe. She beat around the bush and said, “I will keep bringing it every time if you want but I can’t reveal my secrets.”

As she walked away another little lady called me aside to tell me the secret. “Sister Karen, I’ll tell you her secret!” I felt so honored and as part of special group who knew this family’s ‘secret’. It was just so simple that it made me laugh. Want in on it? Of course you do! To make banana pudding buy the instant vanilla pudding, mix it up and let it set up a little. Then, fold in Cool Whip. Layer the mixture with vanilla wafers and banana’s in a clear bowl. Voila! The best banana pudding ever!!!!!

It was so simple, yet did make a difference in the outcome. Over the years, we have laughed about the recipes where someone left out a key ingredient so that no one would discover the family secret recipe. Open up and share freely.

Recipes are a wonderful way to share a legacy and fun times with future generations. There is great comfort as a family gathers together to share laughter and yummy comfort food.

Every family has the favorite requests every holiday.  There are several in our family. I teach my kids and grandkids how to make anything that I do. It's such a fun time in the kitchen.Click To Tweet
