Longevity Secrets from the Life of Bill Pritchett
As for us, we have all of these great witnesses who encircle us like clouds. So we must let go of every wound that has pierced us and the sin we so easily fall into. Then we will be able to run life’s marathon race with passion and determination, for the path has been already marked out before us. Hebrews 12:1 TPT
Dad loved board games – especially his souped up version of Sorry. He would deal you the cards and you could hold on to your ruthless cards in order to play them to your advantage. His skill was legendary. He also liked to play partners where you could move your partner’s men to you mutual. The week before he moved to Heaven he played Sorry with three of the great-grandsons. And his team WON! No surprise there! While he enjoyed winning, he mostly enjoyed the time together with family and loved ones.
One of my last visits with him he talked about the days of when he played tennis. He learned how to play tennis at age 84 and they wanted to put him in competition because he had a wicked serve.
“I guess I should have kept playing tennis, you know?” he said.
“Why did you stop playing?” I asked.
“I think it was my pride. I could have continued to go out there and hit the ball better than most who were there. I just was too proud because it felt like I was losing my winning serve,” he confessed.
Dad was also a winner because he won souls. He counted that his biggest success in life and was constantly looking for opportunities to show the love of Jesus to everyone he met.
Longevity Secret #28:
